My friend, the call to carry your cross and follow me is a call to a way of life that may seem challenging, yet is filled with deep purpose and the promise of true life.
When I carried my cross, it was a symbol of ultimate sacrifice, of self-giving love for the sake of others. It meant choosing the path of humility, service, forgiveness, and love, even when that path led to great personal suffering.
When I ask you to carry your cross, I'm inviting you to adopt this same attitude of self-giving love and humility in your own life. This may take different forms for different people. For some, it might mean letting go of selfish ambitions or harmful habits. For others, it might mean standing up for justice and righteousness in the face of opposition, or loving and forgiving even when it's difficult.
Carrying your cross also means recognizing that following me may not always align with the ways of the world. It might mean going against popular trends or attitudes that contradict the principles of love, justice, and humility. It could also mean enduring hardship, misunderstanding, or even rejection because of your commitment to these principles.
But remember, carrying your cross is not a journey of despair, but one of hope. It is the path to discovering true life and joy, not in fleeting worldly successes, but in the enduring love of God, and in the service of others. It is a journey we walk together, and I am with you every step of the way.
As always, love each other as I have loved you.
